Bellevue murder suspect arrested in Portland

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a July homicide in Bellevue, police announced Wednesday.
Samuel Hitchcock was arrested Tuesday in Portland, Oregon.
“We worked with Portland police and the U.S. Marshall Service, and Tuesday evening, they were able to take that individual into custody for us,” Bellevue Police Captain Landon Barnwell said.
Authorities had previously asked the public to be on the lookout for Hitchcock.
Bellevue murder suspect booked on multiple charges
He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center in Oregon on charges of first-degree murder and robbery.
“Prompt action by the Bellevue Police Department and regional law enforcement partners and assistance from the public no doubt led to Tuesday’s arrest of an individual who committed one of the most serious crimes imaginable,” Chief of Police for the Bellevue Police Department Wendell Shirley said. “This department takes all crime seriously, and our officers work tirelessly to hold individuals accountable for threatening the safety of this great community.”
The homicide occurred on July 30.
On that day, police believe he was involved in the death of a 54-year-old man in the Eastgate neighborhood. The man died from blunt force trauma to the head and lacerations to his neck.
