‘He may find himself in another situation’: Jake warns of risks after Tent City 3 suspect freed

Sep 18, 2025, 2:33 PM | Updated: 2:33 pm

A Seattle homeless man was released from King County Jail Thursday following accusations of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl at a city-sanctioned tent encampment. Jake Skorheim from the “Jake and Spike Show on KIRO Newsradio discussed whether the decision was justified and addressed the public outrage surrounding the case.

Authorities arrested the man on Sept. 12 after multiple witnesses reported seeing him attempt to lure the young girl into his tent. The child, who was living in the encampment with her mother, was brought to safety after a bystander intervened. Police launched an investigation, but were ultimately forced to release the suspect due to legal time constraints and a lack of sufficient proof to file formal charges.

“You have someone with a clear proclivity for this kind of behavior who is now back on the street, and we don’t know for how long,” Skorheim said. “What worries me is that he may find himself in another situation, and maybe now his appetite is even stronger.”
