Pedestrian struck and killed in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood

A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday morning in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood.
The collision happened just before 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Beacon Avenue South and South Portland Street, according to Seattle police.
Investigators said an Enterprise rental box truck was traveling south on Beacon Avenue South when it hit an elderly woman crossing the street.
“Officers arrived and found an elderly female who had been struck by the vehicle, and unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Detective Brian Pritchard said.
The driver remained at the scene, cooperated with police, was evaluated for impairment, and released.
