Ursula warns that Trump’s H-1B Visa policy will ‘hurt us all’

Sep 22, 2025, 2:24 PM

President Trump has announced a new policy imposing a $100,000 annual fee on new H-1B visa applications, a move he says will protect American jobs.

During “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio, co-host Ursula Reutin raised concerns that the policy could cause more harm than good.

“If you look at the numbers and they don’t compute, and there aren’t enough people in this country to be able to fill those jobs,” said Ursula. “Then insisting on having Americans first in line or only having it filled by Americans is going to hurt us all.”

The H-1B program is widely used by tech giants like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google to hire skilled foreign workers in fields like AI and biotech. The announcement caused widespread confusion and panic, with companies rushing to get overseas employees back to the U.S., fearing the fee applied to current visa holders.

The White House has since clarified that the fee only applies to new applications, not renewals or existing visas.
