An e-bike rescue team played a “critical role” in finding a lost hiker Monday night in the Cougar Mountain area.
The report of the lost hiker prompted a widespread search effort, Seattle Mountain Rescue (SMR) announced. A joint effort was forged among multiple teams in the search, including assistance from SMR, Regional Special Vehicle Unit (RSVU), King County Explorer Search and Rescue (ESAR), King County 4×4 Search and Rescue (KC 4×4), and King County Search and Rescue Dogs.
The SMR e-bike team led the rescue efforts by quickly covering large sections of the trail on their bikes, allowing ground teams to thoroughly search off-trail areas.
The lost hiker was safely located at approximately 8 p.m. and was escorted back to the trailhead.
SMR highlighted that the team’s excellent teamwork and collaboration contributed to a successful recovery of the individual.
“Outstanding collaboration by all teams involved! Thank you for your dedication and swift response,” SMR wrote.
