To the delight of Choco Taco lovers, a similar product will soon be available.

Portland-based Salt & Straw and Taco Bell have collaborated to make the Tacolate, according to a news release from Salt & Straw.

The taco shell will be a waffle cone, filled with cinnamon ancho chili ice cream, dipped in single-origin chocolate, and sprinkled with toasted brown rice. It will be served with Taco Bell-inspired mango jalapeno sauce and wildberry cinnamon sauce packets.

Tacolate has been years in the making

Taco Bell first announced an ice cream taco with Salt & Straw in February 2024, as reported by The Oregonian. The news came a year and a half after the death of Klondike’s Choco Taco.

Salt & Straw co-founder and head ice cream maker Tyler Malek told the media outlet that Salt & Straw had been working on a taco-like dessert for years.

Malek was eager to make the treat available to customers.

“This is the most delicious thing you will eat in your entire life, and I hope you get to try it soon,” he said, as reported by The Oregonian.

The long-awaited Tacolate will be available at select Salt & Straw stores nationwide starting October 3, including locations in Oregon, Washington, California, New York, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, and New England.

Salt & Straw will also be shipping the treat to customers nationwide through its website.
