A man was arrested after pretending to be a Walmart employee in Port Angeles in order to obtain more beer, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The suspect was wearing a Walmart vest with a nametag reading “Greg” when he allegedly entered a Walmart store, located on E. Kolonels Way in Port Angeles, through an employees-only door after the store had closed to customers.
The suspect attempted this crime while appearing seemingly intoxicated, according to Walmart employees who reported the man to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office. Employees working at the Walmart location when the crime was committed told deputies they immediately recognized that he didn’t work there.
When officers arrived, he entered a fight stance before fleeing the scene. He drove his car to the Walmart store, but abandoned it when the authorities arrived, fleeing on foot instead. Deputies were then able to identify the suspect by running his plates.
Deputies found the suspect hiding near the truck entrance of the Walmart.
The man was booked into Clallam County Jail for second-degree attempted burglary.
