Two right lanes of southbound I-5 were blocked after a pickup truck was wedged under a fuel hauler early Tuesday morning.
The collision, first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) at 6:28 a.m. Tuesday, has caused a miles-long backup near the Tacoma Dome. Three lanes were initially blocked, but it has since reopened.
“The collision on SB I-5 in Tacoma is complicated. Expect longer than normal lane closures,” WSDOT Tacoma stated on X. “Vehicle wedged beneath empty tanker truck. Minor injuries reported. Special care is being taken to prevent spill of any potential remnants tanker was carrying.”
Minor injuries were suffered in the crash.
