Seattle police are investigating an early morning smash-and-grab burglary that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to a smoke shop in North Seattle.
Around 2:25 a.m., officers heard that a car had crashed into a business in the 8000 block of Lake City Way Northeast, followed by several people running inside.
Burglars use stolen Hyundai in smash-and-grab robbery
When police arrived, they found a stolen Hyundai reversed into the storefront, shattering glass and causing severe damage. Investigators said several masked people stole thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise. The suspects escaped in another vehicle before officers arrived.
Police collected evidence at the scene and had the stolen Hyundai towed to the department’s vehicle processing room for examination. The store owner later arrived to take inventory and secure the property.
