Three teens were arrested in Gig Harbor on Thursday after throwing eggs at multiple vehicles, including a police car, and ultimately damaging a chicken coop in an attempt to flee.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., the Gig Harbor Police Department (GHPD) received reports of juveniles driving around Peacock Hill and North Harborview Drive, throwing eggs at other vehicles, GHPD announced.
Officers conducted continuous area searches for what was described as a gray or black sedan with several juvenile male passengers. GHPD was not able to locate the vehicle at that time.
Gig Harbor juveniles throw eggs at vehicles, causing damage
At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Harborview Drive for reports of vandalism in the area. A victim reported that occupants of a dark-colored sedan had thrown multiple eggs at her vehicle, shattering the window.
No injuries were reported from the incident, and GHPD officers continued to search the area for the juvenile suspects.
A short time later, an officer located a gray sedan involved in what appeared to be a road rage incident at Olympic Drive and westbound SR 16.
The driver was seen standing in the middle of the roadway, interacting with an occupant of another vehicle.
An officer approached the scene, which prompted the suspect to reenter the sedan and flee through a red light onto westbound SR 16.
Officers attempted a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle with multiple juvenile occupants, although the driver did not stop and fled officers at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was weaving through multiple traffic lanes as it fled, and a GHPD pursuit was not initiated.
GHPD continued to search the area and located the vehicle after a suspect threw an egg at an officer’s windshield. The suspects fled again, recklessly and at a high rate of speed.

A pursuit was not initiated, but officers observed the vehicle enter an area with multiple dead-end streets.
GHPD established a perimeter around the area as it was believed the suspects were contained.
Officers later discovered that the vehicle, traveling at a dangerously high rate of speed, failed to make a turn, left the roadway, struck a sidewalk, destroyed a Peninsula Light utility pole, crashed through a residential fence, and came to a stop after damaging a backyard chicken coop.
The three male juveniles fled the crash on foot. A Pierce County Sheriff’s Office Deputy aided officers in tracking down all three suspects and taking them into custody without incident.
GHPD noted there were no reported injuries, despite the damage to the vehicle, light pole, fence, chicken coop, and properties.
The suspects were released to their parents or guardians, and the case will be forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor’s office for review.
