A man was arrested after a car chase attempting to evade police led to a standoff in Port Ludlow, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
A sergeant with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office attmepted to conduct a traffic stop after spotting a vehicle traveling more than the posted speed limit on Oct. 19. The driver ignored the traffic stop, speeding off and ignoring police until he reached his driveway.
“Commands were given to the driver who did not cooperate and resisted arrest,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office stated on Facebook. “Pepper spray was released in an attempt to subdue the driver, but he was able to make it into his house.”
Shortly after he made it into the home, neighbors called 911, claiming the man was walking through their backyard with a shotgun.
After creating a barrier in the residential area, the sheriff’s office was able to locate the suspect in a heavily wooded area using drone technology and a K9 unit. The suspect was booked into Jefferson County Jail, while the shotgun was recovered nearby.
“The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the agencies who assisted in a safe resolution,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office stated.
