Arson confirmed in fire that destroyed new Everett playground

A fire that severely damaged the playground at Wiggums Hollow Park in Everett on Monday has been confirmed as arson, according to findings by the Everett Fire Department (EFD).
Firefighters arrived at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the park located at 2808 10th Street in Everett, EFD announced.
Fire crews found the main play structure fully engulfed in flames and quickly brought the fire under control. No injuries were reported.
Fire destroys beloved Wiggums Hollow Playground, investigation underway
The area will remain closed while the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office and Police Department investigate.
“It’s heartbreaking to see that the beautiful new playground at Wiggums Hollow Park was seriously damaged by a fire this morning,” Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin stated. “This playground was designed with input from our Delta Neighborhood and community members — and it’s been such a joyful place for families since it opened in the summer of 2024.”
