A Kent suspect involved in a fatal Seattle shooting was accidentally released from jail in Northern California last week.

Isaiah Jamon Andrews, 20, was released by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) on Oct. 22 from the Martinez Detention Facility, CCSO announced.

Andrews was being held on a juvenile warrant from Sacramento and an out-of-state arrest warrant for a homicide.

After CCSO noticed Andrews had been released, search efforts were conducted in the surrounding area. Officials concluded Andrews was no longer in the area.

The search for Andrews is ongoing, led by the U.S. Marshals Service. Local law enforcement agencies have also been notified of Andrews’ accidental release.

CCSO urged anyone with information on Andrews’ whereabouts to call 911 or CCSO at (925) 646-2441.

Tips can be submitted by email at tips@so.cccounty.us or by calling (866) 846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message.

Northgate light rail station shooting

Andrews is suspected of shooting and killing a 20-year-old man near the Northgate light rail station on Oct. 15.

The shooting took place on N. Northgate Way just before 5 p.m. When police and fire personnel arrived at the scene, they found a man shot in the chest in the parking lot of a hotel. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Gunfire and, of course, homicides are difficult things for us all to deal with. This has no place in our society,” SPD Detective Eric Munoz told KIRO Newsradio.

SPD was previously investigating what led to the shooting. No suspects have been arrested, as of this reporting.

“The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation,” Munoz previously said. “Our detectives are basically trying to figure out what happened and what led up to this shooting.”
